About the Artist - Karie

Karie Andre, a native of small town Williamstown, Ontario, has nurtured a lifelong passion for art and design. Specializing in both wheel-thrown and hand-built ceramic objects, Karie appreciates ceramics for its limitless possibilities.

It allows her to create everything from functional pieces to intricate sculptures and painted works. Her work is deeply inspired by the elegance of Japanese pottery, the creativity of illustration art, and the bold styles of the 1920s, reflecting a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.

In 2018, Karie's life took a dramatic turn when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a courageous battle and recovery, this life-changing experience propelled her to fully commit to her artistic dreams. In 2019, she purchased Pleasant Pottery from her mentor, Joan Spears, renaming it Creative Clay Studio. Here, Karie has cultivated a vibrant community of pottery enthusiasts, offering memberships, classes, and clay party workshops.Her work, whether functional or sculptural, is deeply inspired by themes of duality, unity, and balance.
